5/29/2023 0 Comments Mego games obsession rules ghillieI learned that to get my natural newby questions heard, I stood a far better chance if I waited until the start of my own turn. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is all manageable as long as you know and can accept the people you're at the table with, and can keep your own emotions in check and the larger perspective in view - that it is, ultimately, only a game that you're all ostensibly there to enjoy.One thing that really struck me at this year's BGG Con (that perhaps never did before) was that even in the midst of a 'learning' game that was new to all players, the individuals involved would still get focused on their own 'strategy' (or what they thought was their strategy) once they started to 'grok' the game even a little bit. Things that happen in a game can mimic real life, in that people can (and do) get overly competitive, vindictive, offended, greedy, childish, etc., etc. The most important gaming truth I've learned over the past 12 years is this: people are people, whether you're talking about real life or something as seemingly innocuous as a board game.
